KATCLUSE WEEKLY MIX: 23

A Sad Reclusive Abstract Kat

Right off, it was a very difficult to make this video. I am a recluse with some serious issues that I won’t go into here but this was extremely out of my comfort zone. However, this is the type of video I want to create when it comes my experiments. I want to have my art react to the environment itself. I’ve done this in the past with my last art channel. This was always my endgame after my first time I made a video like this one. I just love the effect so much.

While working on this video, I discovered I could batch and automate this process so I hope to do that for future videos. I couldn’t do that here because I ran into several issues. To create the script or set of actions, things have to be perfect. The major thing is that I can’t hit undo (which I do frequently) when it comes to making layers and blending different effects and patterns. This video is the third attempt. The last two scripts I made had errors that I couldn’t fix. It took a lot of time to create those designs and I thought if it didn’t work the last time I was going to give up since I am on a strict time limit. I don’t want to go into details about that so I wrote a separate blog post if you’re interested in reading more details. I also feature the alternate version of this design and the full video without it being looped.

To make a long story short. I added my design to 1500 individual photos to make this video. The photos were converted from the video I made. I was just staring at the camera and thinking about the journey I’m on here. When I look back I see the sadness and exhaustion. I know that’s what I felt at the time. I also wanted to do small movements so it’s not just a video of me opening and closing my eyes.

I guess the best part of making this video is that you can actually see the person behind KATCLUSE.

I would love to continue making videos and creating spins on nature with my art. Though, I do want to make a video with me doing pushups but after that I probably will lean towards using stock footage if I want to feature people in the future.
